Weatherization Workshop a HUGE Success!

by tfridhandler on November 6, 2009

Mikey discusses the importance of weatherization.

Mikey discusses the importance of weatherization.

On November 5th, Mikey Naucus and Richard Reilly led the AFH part of a Weatherization Workshop for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Parents of the littles in the program attended the event. A representative from the Community Action Agency opened up the evening with an energy quiz and a discussion on quick ways to save energy. Then AFH spoke about 10 basic weatherization techniques. After that, Mikey and Richard led caulking demonstrations and weatherstripping installation. All the attendees had a chance to try it out for themselves on an awesome mock-up door and window built by AFH with materials and help from Boa construction and Architectural Millwork of St Louis. Everyone was pretty excited to take their new weatherization techniques and apply them at home.

In addition, BBBS is looking forward to potential future weatherization workshops. Thanks to all who helped out on this project!
